Make no mistake: London is in the midst of an air quality crisis "
— Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London

Air Quality in London is a problem we’ve heard discussed continually but seen very little done in terms of resolving the issue. The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has now made this topic a priority. When speaking at Question Time on July 20th, he made a point of expressing his anger at the closure of the Department of Energy & Climate Change and revealed his plans to drastically amend the current desperate situation.

The first step of his plan is to create a £11 million fund dedicated to the issue, which will see five Low Emission Neighbourhoods established across London. Within these neighbourhoods, three main measures will be put in place: high pollution vehicles will be penalised, parking reserved for the cleanest vehicles and green taxi ranks for zero-emission cabs will be built.

With London being one of the most polluted cities in Europe, long-term effects are linked to life-shortening lung and heart conditions, breast cancer and diabetes. Figures currently revealed in the press, link almost 9,000 deaths a year to long-term exposure to dirty air in the capital. Check this LINK for pollution levels in your road.

At Parcelly, we believe that in order to drastically improve these numbers, major steps need to be taken and it is not just individuals who are responsible, but businesses and corporations alike. Our aim is to simplify parcel deliveries, whereby our business model is entirely green, based on a paperless booking system via our innovative smartphone app.

Furthermore, Parcelly not only helps to reduce the number of driver destinations as well as parcels that require multiple delivery attempts, but we also donate up to 5% of the price of each Parcelly Booking to our long-term partner Atmosfair.
