HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE DELIVER EUROPE CONFERENCE 2023

The DELIVER Europe conference is an innovative space where some of the biggest retailer and brand decision-makers are connected with the most forward-thinking logistics and supply chain vendors. This series of events is held in Amsterdam, Las Vegas and Singapore. This year’s edition of DELIVER Europe took place in Amsterdam at the Taets Art and Event Park. The event offered a wide range of presentations, panel discussions and opportunities to schedule one-to-one meetings on the exhibition floor.
The Parcelly team were delighted to attend this year as exhibitors, with our CEO Sebastian Steinhauser delivering a presentation on “The Future of Urban Logistics.” It was fantastic to exhibit alongside partners such as Nash, Stuart, DHL and Uber Direct, as well as global logistics and ecommerce leaders including FedEx, GLS and Amazon.
The main aim of DELIVER Europe is to bring together the commerce and supply chain ecosystem to make deals, share insights and connect leading vendors with retailers and brands seeking new solutions and technologies to shape the future of the industry. We were excited to showcase our solutions, including Hyper-Local Warehousing and PUDO (Pick-Up and Drop-Off).
The day began with an insightful presentation titled “Great Techspectations: Retail, Reality and the Future” by Amelia Kallman, author of The Big Reveal. She highlighted how virtual and artificial intelligence are changing the world of ecommerce and the habits of future consumers.
This was followed by a discussion on “The Cost of Doing Nothing” by Caroline Zimmerman from Jack Wolfskin, who emphasised the importance of stakeholder engagement in Sales and Operational Planning (S&OP). Amazon also presented on expanding EU businesses internationally, covering opportunities in both the UK and the US.
Later, Matthew Price from Uber Eats discussed how online shoppers demand fast and reliable delivery options. A case study on post-purchase success followed, featuring Andrew Chan of AfterShip, alongside representatives from Space NK and Virtualstock, focusing on automating returns processes.
Chris Hodge from FedEx delivered a workshop on growing business revenue streams, sharing that global ecommerce sales are expected to increase by $1.7 trillion between 2022 and 2025.
To conclude the day, Sebastian Steinhauser presented “The Future of Urban Delivery,” highlighting how technology enables customer certainty after purchase and noting that the last mile can account for up to 53% of total shipping costs. The session ended with a lively Q&A, including discussions with Sendcloud and IKEA about global PUDO trends and micro-hub solutions.
Day two began with a keynote by Andrew Busby of Retail Reflections, discussing the evolving expectations of modern shoppers. We also attended a workshop by Daniel Corbett from Metapack on driving customer retention through delivery options.
In the Innovation Theatre, ZigZag leaders Al Gerrie and Caroline Gaubert Amy discussed optimising post-purchase and returns experiences. The event concluded with insights from DHL on catering to the ecommerce consumers of tomorrow.
DELIVER Europe was a truly exceptional event. We were proud to exhibit alongside peers and partners including Coll-8, Aramex, Stuart, Uber, Nash, Urb-it, Hived and parcelLab.
